Evan Weiss serves as President of Direct Electric as well as a related company, AWI. AWI is a diversified services company serving the Oil and Gas industry, the US Government and their prime contractors. AWI operates in Iraq and has offices in Baghdad, Basrah, Erbil, Dubai and Houston.
Mr. Weiss joined AWI and Direct Electric in 2013. He has over 25 years experience working in similar businesses and industries. He has held a variety of senior executive and leadership roles.
After graduating from LaSalle University with a degree in Business Administration, he joined Day & Zimmermann. Over a 22-year career at Day & Zimmermann, he led numerous contracting business units and JV’s, both domestically and internationally.
While with Day & Zimmermann, Mr. Weiss was responsible for the International Security and Logistics business known as SOC. He led the growth of the company from 2,200 employees and contractors to over 11,000.
Prior to joining AWI, Mr. Weiss was President of Transfield Services’ US Resources and Energy business and was focused on providing construction, maintenance, turnaround and specialty services to the oil and gas industry in both the up and downstream segments. While with Transfield Services, Mr. Weiss led the acquisition of Steier Oilfield Service, a leading roustabout company headquartered in Dickinson, ND.
After a brief medical career in Iraq, Doc entered the contracting industry by overseeing the medical services program in support of the US Department of Defense at a major military base in Iraq.
The experience gained in this role led to a corporate role with a major US government contracting company in Iraq (AWI), where he was soon promoted to the position of Director of Special projects for the same diversified services company working out of their Houston headquarters.
In 2013, Doc relocated to Watford City, ND to lead the business operations and integration of acquisitions for Direct Electric.
